Question by . ǝʞɐןɟuɹoʞ .: what is a good english spanish downloadable dictionary?
That DOESN’T need to be connected to the internet to work?
I mean that kind of defeats the whole purpose of a downloadable dictionary.
Also free.
Something that either has a big list of Spanish words.
OR
Something that I can type English words in to get Spanish translation?
I know they exist, but I can’t find any.
I used to have one on my PC.

Question by Prinny dood: Where can I download a free dictionary?
I love learning but my current dictionary application is really annoying. When I search for “patronize” it says “to treat condescendingly” when I search “condescension” it says “to patronize others” most words just don’t have simple definitions. So does anyone know where I can download a dictionary? The one I already have is the “sage” dictionary

Dictionaries aren’t free unless you are using them online. Sorry, but if you want one, you will have to buy one, and they ain’t cheap! Try softwareoutlet.com and buy.com. And you can check with Amazon. Someone might have one for sale cheaper than a book store.

What the Gawker hack should teach us about passwords
Unless you’ve been leading a Luddite existence — off camping in the Rockies or something — you are probably aware that Gawker was the victim of an attack which exposed passwords and led to a deluge of Twitter spam. The silver lining of this incident is that it gives us yet another opportunity to examine real-world passwords and hopefully learn a lesson or two…but don’t hold your breath.

Most paperback dictionaries are inadequate. Just a stop-gap until you can get to a better one. On line perhaps. My best “hard copy” dictionary weighs about 30 lbs and has 3,200 pages, and lacks thousands of words that have appeared since it was published in 1944. No, I don’t carry it with me.
That said, the largest paper-back dictionary is probably The Random House Dictionary, I know this because they say so on their front cover. My 1980 edition has 1055 pages.
Finally, you might be interested in Daniel Tammet’s web site. He is the savant who taught himself the Icelandic language in one week, appeared on their national television and carried on a conversation in their language. If you can find a copy of his book “Embracing the Wide Sky” read chapter 4 “A World of Words”. He is an admitted linguaphile. Look it up. It is not in the Random House nor in the huge dictionary, but there are various “lingua” words such as linguistics and later on the word “phile” is defined. So if someone tells you they are a linguaphile you will smile and say you too are a lover of words.

If you’ve added a misspelled word to your dictionary, the next time you type the misspelled word, right click on it and you should have an option to “undo”.

Question by ensanam a: I want to publish a Photo Dictionary, Which kind of camera give me a good quality?
I want to publish a Photo Dictionary, Which kind of camera give me a good quality?
As you know, a photo dictionary doesn’t have Pictures larger than 10*15 or in rare situation A5 or A4?
I need a good and cheap one. some friends suggested Canon G10 & canon sx 110.
Thanks.

Answer by JanieP
To be honest most cameras are capable of printing up to A4 these days. A5 and smaller won’t be a problem, so go into a shop and look at what’s there and make your choice – by handling the cameras and choosing which one you like best and can afford.
Some camera phones have good enough sensors to allow their pictures to be printed, if you’ve got one why not try it out? You might be surprised
You may need to edit your pictures to get them to look exactly the way you want them and when you test them out you will find that even 72 dpi will print reasonably well but it’ll be best to use an output of around 300 dpi.
If you’re hoping to print these pictures yourself you will find that it’s your printer that is the limiting factor, so it could be worth learning a bit more about online/internet printing services if you haven’t already got a publisher lined up
