How can I use java to create a dictionary of terms, asking what each word means and evaluate the definition?

Question by mikeduptwo: How can I use java to create a dictionary of terms, asking what each word means and evaluate the definition?
Using Java 5.0, how can I create a dictionary of terms in either notepad or Microsoft word, upload it into a document, and ask the user to define each word. Writing the code and implementing it would be nice :) and required.
Moreover, how can I use a vocabulary list in Microsoft Word or Notepad in Textpad/Java as a dictionary? That is th realy question?

Where can I find a web site that can randomly pick a dictionary term?

Question by Gene D: Where can I find a web site that can randomly pick a dictionary term?
I am looking for a random word generator that will give me actual words from the english language and their definitions. I had found one at one of the online dictionary sites a few months back – it was burried somewhere – and now I can’t find it and all that Google search gets me is random word generators that give you made up words… Does anyone know a site to get a random entry from the actual English dictionary? Thanks

How do you get your word into the dictionary?

Question by 21love: How do you get your word into the dictionary?
Or do words that become more commonly used throughout society just get added to the dictionary?

Best answer:

Answer by Kenny B
There is no way to get a word into a dictionary by request. Words are adopted into a language and are not created. For example 100 years ago, if I were to tell some one to “click” on another object, the would not know what to make of our request.

If you were to look up that word in the dictionary, it may not exist, or it may give some definition of a sound. Today when someone tells you to “click” on something, most people begin to think of computers, and clicking on icons or links.

Pop-culture, technology, society, etc. affect language. Just think of the dictionary as a book of frequently used words.
